The Halloween Season is finally here!
There is no better time of year for Horror fans than
October; the air is crisp, the daylight fades quicker, everyone has their
Halloween decorations proudly on display, and we get to marathon
Horror movies until we're numb. Of course we do that all year long, but for everyone else, it's a special ritual that fills their dark hearts with joy.
Below, we've listed the biggest and best
Horror properties that are seeing
Theatrical,
VOD, or
TV releases this
October; they're the biggest and (potentially) best of them, and at the very least, they are the ones that we're most excited to check out. *
Blu-ray & DVD are not included here, as they get their own individual monthly post.

OCTOBER 31st (STARZ) |
Not only are we getting the first new
Evil Dead story in 23 years starring
Bruce Campbell, but it's going to be a
TV Show which has 10 episodes; it's going to be on cable, which means it'll be uncut; and it premieres on
Halloween night. Now does it get any better than that for
Horror fans?
No, it does not.

OCTOBER 11th (AMC) |
The Walking Dead also returns for its sixth season this month, and with
Morgan back in the mix (along with what we know is coming down the road), it might just end up being the best season yet.
The haters out there can criticize this show all they want to, but we can't wait for the
11th.

OCTOBER 16th (THEATRICAL) |
A
Gothic Haunted House movie directed by
Guillermo del Toro, and starring
Jessica Chastain,
Tom Hiddleston,
Charlie Hunnam, and
Mia Wasikowska? Yes please. Even if it ends up being overly-sentimental (which it will be, because it's
del Toro),
Crimson Peak looks all kinds of fantastic.
|
OCTOBER 23rd (THEATRICAL) |
Breck Eisner's last movies,
The Crazies, was bad-ass, so we have no reason to doubt that
The Last Witch Hunter will be bad-ass too. It's
Vin Diesel hunting witches with the smoking hot
Rose Leslie as his sidekick/love interest, so how can it go wrong?
Don't answer that.
|
OCTOBER 30th (THEATRICAL, VOD) |
We're hoping that
Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse will end up being as fun as
Cooties was. The trailer had us laughing, and it looks like it has all the ingredients to be something along the lines of a
Zombieland (loosely), so we're all in. Plus,
Sarah Dumont with a shotgun...
|
OCTOBER 23rd (THEATRICAL) |
As bad as the last two Paranormal Activity movies have been, we really hope that they took care to make this newest (and supposedly final) sequel a far better overall effort. The trailer looks decent enough, but the cast is largely unknown, and the director is unproven, so we're a bit wary.
We'll still give it a go though, because we're suckers like that.
|
OCTOBER 9th (THEATRICAL, VOD) |
The Final Girls looks like a campy fun spoof of the
Slasher Flicks of yesteryear. It's got a great cast, and advance reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, so we'll be in line to see this
Horror Comedy on day one.
|
OCTOBER 16th (THEATRICAL, VOD) |
Whether the movies will be good or not is anyone's guess, but it's still good to see the
After Dark Horrorfest back on the big (and now small) screen once again. If four out of the eight movies end up being solid, we'll consider this one a success.
October is set to be a very busy month on the
VOD front, and so below we've listed some of the best movies coming to streaming platforms over the next 30 days, so that you know what to keep an eye out for. For a full listing on movies and dates, check out our full
VOD Release Dates Page.
*Not all titles are up for
Pre-Order at
Amazon yet.
