For the last few years, we've focused a good amount of our time and energy on maintaining this VOD Release Dates List, mainly because as massive as VOD has become, Horror fans like us need a place to go where they can see what's new out there in the world of streaming media, and what's coming soon.
Why more movie-related sites haven't, and continue not to, focus more of their efforts on VOD releases, we have no idea.
With that in mind, we've gathered the biggest and best in Horror & Genre VOD releases below into one handy archive, so that you can keep up on what's out there, and what's coming soon to a streaming service near you.
Keep in mind that...
- Release dates change all the time. Some of the upcoming movies below will end up shifting dates, or even going theatrical releases rather than hitting VOD straight off. Most of the dates are solid, but with some, we have to take our best guess, and hope that they see release.
- We will also be including some Sci-Fi, Action, Thriller, or otherwise compelling movies of interest on this list, because we need some variety in our lives.
*Be sure to click the pics to rent the movies, or watch their trailers. Or both. Or neither. It really depends on your mood, now doesn't it?
*If you aren't already a member, you should really give Amazon Prime a shot, especially if you order movies on the regular like we do, because the free two-day shipping pays for itself after around 10 orders. Check it out for free HERE.
I cannot find anywhere that The Green Inferno and The Keeping Room are coming to VOD in September. They look like Theatrical only releases to me. Do you have some info that they are VOD? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreen Inferno might end up being Limited only, but The Keeping Room should be VOD day and date with it's Limited release.
DeleteThese things change all the time, so with some titles, it's guesswork.
Damm I see the hive got moved a couple weeks and goodnight mommy moved to Nov
ReplyDeleteYeah, not sure why they did that with The Hive. A one day theatrical release, then wait two weeks to release it on VOD?
DeleteAnd Goodnight Mommy... not sure what they gain by moving it to November of all months.
Green Inferno might not end up being Day-and-Date VOD either.
What happened to The Keeping Room? I was looking forward to seeing that Sept 25 :(
ReplyDeleteUpdating the list for the week, and once it's up for rental, we'll put it in the main list.
DeleteKeeping Room and Green Inferno are a wait and see at this point. We'll know ast 3 A.M. eston the 25th!
No green inferno
ReplyDeleteNope. Theatrical only.
ReplyDeleteAny idea where one can rent Old 37 on VOD? I can't find it on iTunes or Amazon Instant. I'm writing this at 1:42 AM on the 29th. iTunes is usually pretty prompt to put movies up for rent/purchase. If you do find it, please can you post where it is available.
ReplyDeleteIt's scheduled for the 29th, but sometimes movies don't go up right away, at least on Amazon. At 3 A.M. est. is when Amazon starts putting their new VOD offerings up, I've noticed it's a process, and that some movies take longer than others.
DeleteKeep checking. It will no doubt show up.
Hi J.S Greer
ReplyDeleteDo you have any idea if there a streaming movie site that I can watch circus of the dead 2014 with no Spanish language. Director:Billy 'Bloody Bill' Pon. there no dvd release date yet I think.
Any idea when two step is out
ReplyDeleteThat's one we've never hear dof, but ut's actually out now. Here's the link http://amzn.to/1GyJJKG
DeleteFreaks of Nature did not find it on demand
ReplyDeleteLimited theatrical only for now. Should hit VOD in a few weeks or so.
DeleteWhere's Freaks of Nature?
ReplyDelete-+-
Not on VOD yet.
DeleteWe originally had it on the list, ready to go, but when it didn't show up on Amazon this morning, we realized that it's only in limited theatrical release for now.
It won't be long before it shows up though.
Any news on a garbage of a movie Paranormal Activity Ghost Dimensions?
ReplyDeleteIt's set to hit VOD 17 days after it drops below 300 theaters, so probably early december.
DeleteWe originally though it was 17 days after release, and had it hitting VOD on the 9th of Nov. but thatw as wrong.
Where did scouts guide go to
ReplyDeleteIt's set to hit VOD 17 days after it drops below 300 theaters, so probably early december.
DeleteHave you reviewed Coherence 2013? Also do you know what happened to Sinister II?
ReplyDeleteHerre's one to add hits VOD Jan 22nd

Scouts Guide Dec 8th VOD. When will the vod list be updated? No rush.
ReplyDelete-+-
Later today catually, and thanks for the heads-up!
DeleteBy taking a future guess do you think We'll have better movies that come to vod in 2015 or 2016? 2015 wasn't a bad year.
ReplyDelete-+-
On just a guess? I'd guess that 2016 will be a good year. There are a lot of movies that look like they could be great coming out in 2016.
DeleteI agree that 2015 wasn't bad at all.
He Never Died and Anguish are not available until tomorrow December 18.
ReplyDelete-+-
Correct. I mentioned that in our VOD post earlier today.
DeleteJust wanted to tget the main list done early, because it hadn't been updated in a week for tech issues, and to edit it twice seemed silly.
Oh I see. I understand.
Delete-+-
The Abandoned 2015 VOD Jan 8th I think.

Happy New Year J.S! Love that I discovered this site early this year. Great work and it's an everyday visit for me (until I learn how to get updates via email; any advice?) Keep up the great work! Btw - I believe the remake of Martyrs (ugh) hits VOD Jan. 22.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you too, chay!
DeleteI just added a "Follow by email" button on the sidebar, so have at it! :)
Martyrs is Limited Theatrical on Jan 22, VOD/Blu on Feb 2nd.
On this VOD list I'm mostly looking forward to Southbound, The Invatation, The Abandoned, JeruZalem, and Synchronicity. I hope the Green Room gets a VOD release date announced soon same with Baskin and Phantasm Ravager and some others. Are you sure The Invitation get a March 25th VOD release? Is there any where that confirms this also?
ReplyDelete-+-
Did you guys do a 'Best of 2015'? (Apologies if I missed it)
ReplyDeleteYes Sir (or Mam, as the case may be) We did all kinds of year end lists. You can find them here at this link: http://thehorrorclub.blogspot.com/2015/12/2015-year-in-horror.html
DeleteI can't find The Abandoned 2015.
ReplyDelete-+-
It's there now. They usually don't pop up until after 3 a.m. EST.
DeleteI have to say bravo with the recent VOD updates, and the best VOD release info I've seen on the web.
ReplyDelete-+-
Thanks -+-, you have no idea how many hours I spend doing that :)
DeleteIt amazes me that sites out there that are bigger than us have hardly any VOD release date info available for their readers. Then again most of them don't do release date pages for anything at all. Some do Blu-ray/DVD, but that's about it.
One of the main purposes of any movie site, Horror or otherwise, should be to let their readers know what's coming out and when.
Our release date pages may not be perfect, but I'm proud to say that at elast we do them. Most of the time, I think we do them right :)
Thanks again, friend.
This is GOLD! Your blog is awesome. A fan from Brazil here!
ReplyDeleteAnother great VOD update. How do you guys find these? Anyways did you guys pre-order Tenebre from Synapse films?
ReplyDelete-+-
I spend a lot of time looking all over for VOD release dates... and since they change so often, it makes it tricky :)
DeleteI personally ordered Tenebrae. Synapse does EXCELLENT work on their Blu-rays, so I'll be ordering their versions of Phenomena and Suspiria too.
Is there any way to get the release date of Baskin? Really looking forward to that one. Trailer for those who are interested https://youtu.be/5BN8MaQ38U4
ReplyDeleteNo word on Baskin yet, other that IFC has the rights, and we'll see it some time this year. Porabably by Summer, I'd guess.
DeleteRoad Games March 4th VOD
ReplyDeleteBaskin March 25th VOD
-+-
Just getting ready to add those to the list. Thanks for the tip on Baskin
DeleteNice to see hardcore added along with green room
ReplyDeleteI post from my phone sometimes, but it doesn't show it was sent.
ReplyDeleteWhat are your top 3 most anticipated VOD titles that have release dates so far? Mine are in no order Southbound, Green Room, and The Invitation. I already seen Krampus. I would also add Baskin.

-+-
If I could pick 3 of them to watch right now? Southbound, Green Room, and Invtation would probably be my picks as well, but Nina Forever, Baskin, and Hardcore would be close behind.
ReplyDeleteBTW, if you haven't seen Marshland yet, add it to your list. It's really good.
Yeah, I already seen Marshland. It was great. It reminded me of The Treatment 2014.
ReplyDelete-+-
Absolutely loved The Treatment. Honestly, "foreign" thrillers liek that are my thing.
DeleteUpdate on Green Room. I emailed A24 and they said "As of now, we anticipate its VOD release to be in July". By the way I just watched Southbound, it's one of the better anthology's around. It's good. I watch a lot of titles I just don't usually post about them. Yeah...
ReplyDelete-+-
Green Room was originally slated to be a Limited/VOD release. With all of the positive buzz, the theatrical dates got movied, and so maybe the VOD release did too. I'll leave it up there for now, and keep my eye on it. I hope it's not July for sure.
DeleteWatching Southbound tonight, hoefully. Can't wait.
I bet you watch a lot of titles, you always seem to be up on release dates and such. We admiire that :)
Where is krampus
ReplyDeleteDVD release was slated for the 23rd, VOD is usually 2 weeks earlier, but it's not there, and Amazon has changed the Blu/DVD release date to "Not yet" essentially.
DeleteThe way it's looking, it might end up being an April release.
I was about to ask the same thing. Oh I really need that movie!
DeleteWhere is krampus
ReplyDeleteJust figured out The Invitation VOD date is April 8th and theatrical is slated for the same weekend.
ReplyDelete-+-
It's still listed for March 25th on IMDB and the official Facebook page, but I check those dates every week, so I'll keep my eyes peeled.
DeleteJust saw Arrow confirm it for April 8th.
DeleteThey Look Like People March 11th VOD.
ReplyDelete-+-
Holidays VOD April 22nd
ReplyDelete-+-
Hey guys! I know its hard sometimes to find people to talk about some of these small VOD horror films with. I use the hell out of this site to find good movies coming out and then review them on youtube if your looking for some good, hopefully entertaining reviews of these flicks, check out WeWatchedAMovie on youtube. Not spamming like a dick, just reaching out to like minded people who love indie horror as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteUh oh, what happened to Hardcore Henry and Green Room? Did the VOD release get bumped?
ReplyDeleteLooks like they're going Theatricalonly for now, Grrl.
Deletebummer! But thanks for the update!! :)
DeleteThe Witch is coming May 17 on Bluray. Will it be earlier on VOD? Thnx!
ReplyDeleteThe way it usually works with "bigger" movies is that they hit Digital HD for purchase 2 weeks before Blu/DVD, and then are available for rent on VOD on the day the discs are released.
DeleteMy guess is that The Witch will be on Digital HD on May 3rd. Hopefully.
Bummer, I was hoping Summer Camp was gonna be on VOD today.
ReplyDelete-+-
Same here. It looks really good.
DeleteYeah, what happened? Just limited theatrical release?
DeleteOooops, no need to post that JS, didn't read the response below. Cheers!
DeleteWill Summer Camp VOD still come out today?
ReplyDeleteNo. The film company told me that it's in limited theaters only, VOD in a month or two.
DeleteIt's playing nowhere in our state (to my knowledge), so I'm guessing that limited means NY and L.A for this one.
Horror film Smothered will release on VOD March 22. http://www.blu-ray.com/itunes/Smothered-iTunes/18181/
ReplyDeleteOn the list now. Thanks, Edgar!
DeleteCanadian Body Horror Thriller BITE to Recieve Limited Theatrical Release. Bite will receive limited U.S. theatrical distribution starting May 6th (the movie will also premiere on VOD and On Demand on this date).
ReplyDeletehttp://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/399801-canadian-body-horror-thriller-bite-recieve-limited-theatrical-release/
Dude, did they fuck around and pull The Invitation from VOD release tomorrow?! That's one of my most anticipated movies!
ReplyDeleteIt's ben April 8th for a while now, but yeah, they moved it :(
DeleteStill VOD on April 8th or are they pulling some "it follows" shit?
ReplyDeleteUnless they change it between now and then, it's still slated for April 8th. You know how that goes though lol
DeleteI saw baskin over the weekend. I thought it had its moments , but all in all it was a short movie that just went over the top violent for the sake of gore
ReplyDeleteit was more like a bizarre cult movie at best. not worth watching - I was bored
I watched it too and completely agree. I was anticipating it and thought it was over hyped.
DeleteI agree as well. It wasn't as bad as some other recent VOD titles though. However, I think The Invitation, Hush, and High-Rise will be top ones from this current VOD list. Especially The Invitation. Have you or @Chaybee seen Southbound?
Delete-+-
I have and I wrote about it under the review for it on this site. I really liked it a lot. It's not without it's faults but I was so excited to finally see an anthology that wasn't jokey.
DeleteSouthbound was one of my top VODs in recent years. Just a lot of fun, great energy, and pretty damned creepy.
ReplyDeleteWolf Creek mini-series coming in May.
ReplyDeleteStarring the original actor from the movies.
Baron
Was a good little show cop out ending though
DeleteI wonder if Green Room is getting a vod date soon, because I've seen on Itunes and Youtube it has a pre-order slot and price, but no date yet.
ReplyDelete-+-
Green Room was originally slated to be a VOD/Limited releases on 4/15, but then they changed it to Limited only, With a wider release a week or two later.
DeleteThey should have stuck with the original plan. It's not even playing anywhere near us.
Yeah I know. It is, however, playing here in Grand Rapids MI April 29th.
Delete-+-
I was hoping it would be playing on this side of the state, but no luck as of yet.
DeleteYou guys should consider making a 'Horror Film Festival' page at the top your website. Where it lists horror movies at big film festivals (Fantastic Fest, Cannes, TIFF, Fantasia). I always look for websites that list horror movies screening at Festivals but never find anything comprehensive! Just a thought!
ReplyDeleteThat's actually a good idea. I'll have to look into that.
DeleteI agree. Good idea.
Delete-+-
Thanks for giving it a thought! Always interested in those films making noise at festivals! Thanks again!
ReplyDelete"Crush the Skull" was actually a pleasant surprise. I didn't expect much but the cast was great and obviously having a good time making the film. I laughed more than I thought and I generally don't like Horror/Comedies.
ReplyDeleteSummer Camp is on VOD August 2nd and on DVD, or June 15th on BD from out of the states.
ReplyDelete-+-
Yep. Working on the VOD list now.
DeleteAny updates on potentially listing horror movies coming to specific film festivals?
ReplyDeleteI've got everything set aside in a folder, just deciding how to present it and what to include.
DeleteAwesome, can't wait! Just to give you an idea of what I was talking about back when I asked, this is the website I used to use (http://www.efilmcritic.com/festivals.php). Oddly enough, they updated their list finally! They haven't updated in months (i figured they simply stopped) and I just randomly looked today and it's updated (weird). But they list all movies at festivals, nothing specific to horror (so its hard to tell which is horror and which isn't). Either way, it's just super basic, but nice to see the titles that way I can IMDb them and add specific ones to my watchlist or something.
DeleteAre you thinking of listing only the popular festivals (Fantasia, Sundance, Cannes, SXSW, etc) or anything and everything you can find? That could be overwhelming?1 IDK, not trying to create a ton of work for you.
I'll prpbably list the biggest festivals, and once that's set up, maybe add some smaller ones, depending on what they're showing.
DeleteThe Minds Eye August 5th VOD
ReplyDelete31 September September 16th VOD
-+-
Noted. Doing a VOD update soon...
ReplyDelete47 Meters Down and In the Deep are the same movie :)
ReplyDeleteYeah. Just forgot to delete the 47 poster :)
DeleteWhen will the blackcoat's daughter Be on regular vod/Amazon? My guess is August 15th-ish since its usually released a full month after it's Directv release.
ReplyDeleteI guess Nerve is going to theaters now, huh?
IMDB has it listed as September 3oth now, so I'm wondering if was pushed to the Halloween Season.
DeleteNerve was probably always going to theaters, I jsut thought it would be a Theatrical/VOD split. It's really hard to figure that out for some movies, as they announce them late.
Are you certain about The Remains and Anthropoid on VOD??? Would be great!!!! Any news on VOD/Bluray release for Train to Busan? Thnx so much.
ReplyDeleteAs certain as I can be. VOD dates are a fickle thing, andthey change a lot, which is why most sites don't focus on them.
DeleteTrain to Busan on BD/DVD was announced as being by the end of this year.
The Remains IS on VOD, Anthropoid is only in theaters
DeleteThnx!!! Btw I saw the movie Embers being released on Aug 2 on Bluray.com :)
ReplyDeletePhantasm V Oct 7th VOD
ReplyDelete-+-
Watched In The Deep, certainly not the worst shark flick I've ever seen but it's painfully slow.
ReplyDeleteDisorder is on VOD right now.
ReplyDeleteVudu has The Neighbor coming August 26 according to: http://www.vudu.com/movies/#!content/780078/The-Neighbor
ReplyDeleteI think. It says available September 6 in one place and then Expected 8/26 in another. I hope the 26th is correct as it's not unusual for VOD to happen a few weeks before the DVD release.
Whats happened to the Bluray of The Neighbor. At Amazon and other webshops its Temporarily out of Stock. Anyone why whats the reason? Thnx
ReplyDeleteThat means one of two things:
Delete1- The revieved a small amount of copies and sold out.
2- The vndor hasn't sent them copies yet, and they're waiting.
Either way, Amazon tends to re-stock quickly, so keep an eye out.
31 still gonna be available Sept 16?
ReplyDeleteIt sure is.
DeleteItunes has the Phantasm films for Oct 4th.
ReplyDelete-+-
found this creepy found footage movie called Hide The MOnster 2016, available now for rent or purchase. Very creepy film IMO, I enjoyed it very much. trying to let everyone here know this film is out if anyone is interested.

Officer Downe Nov 18
ReplyDeleteI sincerely doubt "Elle" will be out on VOD next week, especially with all the awards Buzz....
ReplyDeleteI hope I am proved wrong though....
VOD releases are tircky like that. It "should" be out, but like you said, they may go the theatrical route and milk the awards buzz first.
DeleteWe'll see.
It's somewhere a click away if you know what I mean... or maybe not. Should be out soon on a VOD service.
Delete-+-
-+-
"Elle" is also a Sony pictures classics release. To my knowledge, they've never released anything on VOD before.
DeleteBeyond the Gates, my most anticipated flick of the year, is dropping on December 9.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to that one. Year there a a few titles coming up soon that aren't on here two that come to mind is Beyond the Gates as you mentioned and Train to Busan, which was a good movie.
Delete-+-
Hey J.S. - any word on The Similars VOD that was supposed to be out on the 15th? I'm unable to find it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for always keeping the list up to date, it's really a blessing!
ReplyDeleteAdam K. has moved their VOD release up to early 2017 so you can probably remove it for now. See facebook.com/AdamKTheMovie/
Nov 29th Train to Busan.
ReplyDelete-+-
Train to Busan is fine, but over hyped in my opinion. The Similars was pushed back a week, btw. I liked it. "Come to Daddy" video meets Twilight Zone meets boy "Carrie".
DeleteI really really liked The Similars. I hope it gets a Blu-ray release. I rented it on googleplay.
Delete-+-

It looks like it's going otbe, but you know how it goes.
DeleteDying to see that one.

ReplyDeleteI'd love it if you guys did a review of this awesome indie film I just watched yesterday called They Are Mine! that was released to Amazon Prime video earlier this month. Its the kind of genre cinema we need to be supporting!

ReplyDeleteBetter Watch Out OCT 6th VOD
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Bad Batch is really getting a day and date release? That movie seems like something they'd open semi-wide theatrically ala it comes at night. Kinda shocked if this is true.
ReplyDeleteBlood Feast doesn't seem to have it's VOD release this month but sometime October or later from what I could see...
ReplyDeleteBetter Watch Out VOD October 6th HOPEFULLY

The Endless won't be hitting VOD in march.
ReplyDelete-+-
Any news on Down Range release? The trailer looked good but the ratings don't seem to be that great. Haha
ReplyDeleteThe Endless doesn't come out on March 23rd on vod.
ReplyDeleteRevenge May 11th

The Endless is not on Vod today. I wish.

VOD section needs a update. I just use Upcomminghorrormovies from now on, however, I liked this more since it had artwork to go with the release dates. Oh well
ReplyDelete#screamers on VOD tomorrow
ReplyDeleteIs you dead lol you havent updated in months
ReplyDeleteis there a reason why this place is now being neglected?? shame, was the best blog for new releases info!! oh well time to find a new one
ReplyDeleteserious WTF is going on with this place? guess you like ignoring people, etc,..... you have a responsibility to inform the quite long list of members here with something, if your sick, unhealthy, etc.... JUST POST SOMETHING HERE OR SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN! Don't just ghost people, cuz then it makes you look like a piece of shit!! you had something great here but you let it go for some reason/s or another. adios you fucking loser!!!
ReplyDeleteAny idea where Ghostland is?
ReplyDeleteSucks you stopped updating this website, man. You were a great source for discovering upcoming horror releases. There's no other place on the web that provides comprehensive vod-related material solely focused on horror. RIP Horror Club.
ReplyDeleteI want this
ReplyDeleteHey J.S.! Did you stop updating the VOD section?! It was always super helpful!
ReplyDelete
