From the twisted imagination of creator Michael Dougherty (director of the upcoming Krampus and Trick ‘r Treat, screenwriter of X-Men 2 and Superman Returns) and a top-notch team of artists including Fiona Staples (Saga), Stephen Byrne (Buffy/Angel), Stuart Sayger (Bram Stoker’s Death Ship) and Zid (Son of Merlin) comes this 4-part collection that paves the way for the Trick ‘r Treat film sequel.

D
ays of the Dead ventures through the ages for this chilling collection of Halloween-time stories: from old-world lovers whose romance takes a darker turn, to pioneers who discover more than they bargained for out West, to an edgy 1950s Los Angeles tale dripping with horror noir, and straight through the heart of small-town America to teach a couple of a trouble-making pranksters a lesson they'll never forget.

Across the centuries of Halloween horror, wherever fear lies, Sam will be waiting.

As great as Trick 'r Treat was (read our review HERE), and as patiently as we've been waiting for a sequel, we need more Sam in our lives right now. Writer/Director Mike Dougherty has promised that Trick 'r Treat 2 is on the way, but he's been busy working on his Christmas-themed Horror movie, Krampus, which opens in theaters this December 4th, so we probably won't see Sam in any on-screen action until next Halloween.

Until then, we're more than happy to take a look at his new book, Trick 'r Treat: Days of the Dead. The idea of seeing Sam do his thing through the ages is an interesting one, and hopefully the stories being set in different eras won't keep them from coming off in a cohesive and effective way. We really liked how they were all interconnected in the first one, but as long as the stories work, they don't really have to be.

Either way, we'll be checking this one out in two weeks. We'll let you know how it goes.

Trick 'r Treat: Days of the Dead hits stores on October 6th.
