A new and different Cloverfield fix; some creepy road stalking; some party kids take the wrong drug and pay for it; Mark Strong in space; a girl goes camping; Gerard Butler vs. terrorists abroad; and a Bava remake that looks pretty good... there are 7 new movies hitting VOD this week, and they all look watchable, at the very least.
*Be sure to click the pics to rent the movies, or watch their trailers. Or both. Or neither. It really depends on your mood, now doesn't it?
10 CLOVERFIELD LANE |
An exciting, absorbing movie, 10 Cloverfield Lane sucked us in from the get-go, kept us at full attention until the end, and then left us wanting more. If you didn't get the chance to see this one when it was in theaters, you should definitely check it out now that it's on VOD.
FENDER BENDER |
Scream Factory has teamed up with Chiller TV to produce an original movie, and it doesn't look too bad. Even if it ends up being underwhelming, we'll give it a look because Scream Factory has given us so many excellent Blu-ray releases over the past few years, that we kind of owe it to them to give their first-ever original film the benefit of the doubt.
*Fender Bender is a Chiller TV Exclusive, so, you'll have to subscribe to the channel if you want to watch it.
URGE |
The trailer for Urge looks slick, and the movie is filled with all kinds of talent (sexy, sexy talent), so we'll give it a go. After all, seeing Pierce Brosnan playing a devilish bad guy can't be all bad, can it?
- Approaching the Unknown looks like it's going to be an intense Sci-Fi Thriller along the lines of that stupid move where Sandra Bullock was trapped in space, only better. We love Mark Strong, and we're pretty sure that he can carry a movie like this all alone, so we're all for it. Rent it, because it's Mark Strong in space.
- Good, bad, or otherwise, Girl in Woods is streaming for free for Amazon Prime Members, so even if it sucks, it's free. It doesn't look to bad though. Rent it, because it's (potentially) free.
- London Has Fallen is one that we'll probably check out when we get some free time, as we're always up for a big, stupid action flick, and the first one wasn't bad at all. Rent it if you like that sort of thing.
- A French remake of the 1974 Mario/Lamberto Bava heist-gone-wrong flick, Rabid Dogs looks like it's going to be right up our alley. Rent it if you don't mind subtitles.
Watched Urge tonight. Bizarre. It is almost like two movies in one, a sex/drug-fueled psychedelic trip turned horror movie of sorts. Even though it was most definitely uneven, I enjoyed it.
