July is going to be a busy month at the theaters, and a few of our most anticipated movies of the year will be a part of the release cycle, which makes us happy.

The Purge: Election Year, The Blackcoat's Daughter, Lights Out, Train to Busan, Jason Bourne, and Into the Forest are Absolute Must-Sees for us; and Carnage Park, Satanic, and Viral could prove to be little movies that pack a big punch.

The biggest movie of July, hype-wise, is probably the remake of Ghostbusters. Lots of people on the Internet have lashed out against the remake for various reasons, the ugliest of which being the fact that the ghostbusters are all-female this time out. Now, anyone who loves movies (especially Genre flicks), knows that women can convincingly kick all sorts of ass; characters like RIpley, Sarah Connor, Trinity, The Bride, Alice, and Selene, to name a few, have been kicking ass since we were kids, and we never once thought anything about them being women. The right actress in the right role can be every bit as badass as any dude can.

The Internet though... yeah, that place will make a mountain out of any molehill, so of course it's been blown up into a bunch of bullshit, with words like sexist, misogynist, and patriarchal being thrown around by people who use buzzwords way too much.

The female cast isn't the reason that I have no desire to see Ghostbusters. It has nothing to do with it being a remake, either. It just doesn't look funny.

Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are funny ladies. I'm not sure who Kate McKinnon is (Saturday Night Live hasn't been funny for years, so I've never seen her do her thing); the same goes for Leslie Jones, although I'll say that if being loud and acting crazy is her shtick, then it's not working for me at all. Watching them all in the trailers for Ghostbusters not only failed to inspire laughter, but I actually cringed and shook my head more than anything else. Maybe it'll be funny as hell, but as of right now, it looks abysmal. Kinda like most Adam Sandler movies do.

Either way, it will probably make a billon dollars, so what do I know?

No matter what ends up being great, or ends up sucking, there are plenty of movies hitting theaters this July, so mark your calendars!
