Horror Movie Music: Lost in the Shadows (The Lost Boys, 1987)

As much as we love Horror movies (and movies in general) around here, I have to admit that we might love music even more. I could write a thesis paper on how important music is, and why we need it so much, but let's just leave it at we need music like the body needs blood.

When we find good music in the movies we love, we need it even more.

So let's fire up our virtual MP3 player and see what's playing, shall we?

When The Lost Boys came out back in 1987, it instantly became our favorite movie (you can read our review HERE.) It was slick, stylish, sexy, and it had a soundtrack that was perfect to rock out to when we cruised around looking for babes. Yeah, I just said that. I'm a kid of the 80's, it can't be helped.

Anywho, the soundtrack rocked, but it was always Lou Gramm's Lost in the Shadows (The Lost Boys) that got the most play. Cry Little Sister is officially the "Theme from The Lost Boys" but Lost in the Shadows is the one that defined the movie for us.

It's a huge song, and gets our blood pumping every time.

(Chorus)
Say hello to the night
Lost in the shadows
Say hello to the night
Lost in the loneliness
Say hello to the night
Lost in the shadows
No one knows

I can't wait, I can't wait, no
When I see little lights in the shadows
One must hide when the sun gets higher
I don't know what this madness means

Here comes the night, the bedroom in shadows
Candlelights, I don't know where it's coming from
But I, I keep moving on
Till the darkest thought makes me want to try these wings

Repeat Chorus

Loneliness pours over you
Emptiness can pull you through
Did you go to sleep with the light on?
I can't wait for this feeling to free me

Wind blows hard, but it doesn't matter
'Cause when the sun goes down
Nothing else matters, the line is where the night lies
I will wait outside her window tonight

Repeat Chorus

Loneliness pours over you
Emptiness can pull you through
Did you go to sleep with the light on?
I can't wait for this feeling to free me

Repeat Chorus

I always thought it was "Sail on Into the Night." Shit.

Great movie, great soundtrack, great song.

*In addition to rocking out with Foreigner for years, Lou Gramm released two solo albums that had some great songs on them. Midnight Blue and Just Between You and Me are two faves of ours.
