The Best of... Horror Comedies!

As nasty and terrifying as Horror movies are in general, they can also be a bit absurd to a point. When a movie comes along and decides to play on that absurdity for laughs, the results are often a thing of beauty... when done right, of course.

In their own way, Horror Comedies can be every bit as satisfying of a watch as standard Horror flicks are, and sometimes, even more so.

  • Not every movie on this list will be a straight-up laugh-fest. Some of them will be more along the lines of Black Comedy or Dark Humor, both of which are hilarious in their own way.
  • There are probably about 20 more Horror Comedies that we absolutely love, that didn't make this list. Cutting them was not an easy thing to do.
  • If you've never seen Black Sheep (2006), you're missing out on one of the funniest damn movies we've ever seen. See it ASAP.

If you're in the mood for a truly quality Horror Comedy, any of the movies in our Top Six will do you right. For our money, Black Sheep and What We Do in the Shadows are probably the funniest of them, but then again they all bring their own unique and humorous vision to the Horror Comedy Sub-Genre.

Below are the rest of our 30 Best Horror Comedies, and of course, a few Honorable Mentions thrown in for good measure. Keep in mind that no "Best of" list is ever perfect, but merely a solid starting point for anyone looking to watch some great flicks.

*Most of the links go to Amazon so that you can stream or grab yourself a copy of the movies; our review of the movie (when applicable); or in the case of some of the older & more obscure titles, IMDB, because they simply aren't available to stream or purchase.

  4. What about Nightmare on Elm Street? I remember as the kid the back of the VHS box always described it as a black comedy, and in my eyes it kinda is

    1. The first Nightmare? Not a ceomedy at all. Now any of them from part 3 and on, I could see someone calling them comedy, but there's really nothing funny about the first one.

    1. Great list, Baron.

Some of those movies are great, but most aren;t "Best Ever" material. And some, like Piranha 3DD, aren't funny at all :)

About 10 of those were in the mix originally.

    2. I think they all vary from just ok to very good.
Funny you mention Piranha 3DD. First time I was really disappointed with but I liked it more the second time. Not to say it's great or anything, but I thought it was alright.
And Hasselhoff was hilarious imo =D

    3. I'm sorry, but Piranha 3DD was fantastic. As I have said in another comment somewhere on this board, Hasselhoff totally made that movie. Honestly I thought he should be in more films like it. And I think that movie made money too.
That last part where he was trying to save people in the pool and I think there was slow motion, I was literally laughing so hard I couldn't breath.
