It looks as if we've got ourselves a very solid bunch of VOD releases on our hands this week.
While Spring and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night are probably the best of the bunch, every one of this week's releases looks to be watchable on at least some level.

Billed as "The first Iranian Vampire Western ever made," A Girl Walks Home... looks like an artistic, fresh take on the vampire story. We'll watch this one when we're in more of a subdued mood, as it looks like the type of quiet movie that takes its time telling its story, but watch it we will.
Backcountry: An urban couple go camping in the woods and find themselves lost in the territory of a predatory black bear.
Having just seen another "killer bear" movie, Red Machine (review here), and loving it, we're excited to see what Backcountry does with the same Man vs. Nature premise. The trailer looks good, and its got a strong cast, so if it comes close to capturing the terrifying magic that Red Machine did, we'll be pleased.
Interstellar: A team of explorers travel through a wormhole in an attempt to ensure humanity's survival.
Being big fans of Christopher Nolan's work around here, we were excited to see what he'd do with a Sci-Fi movie. Interstellar was a great movie in many ways, but it didn't quite blow us away like we had hoped that it would. We'll be buying this one when it hits Blu-ray, because it's exactly the kind of movie that Blu-ray was created for, but for anyone who hasn't seen it yet and is curious about it, it definitely makes for a great rental.
Something Wicked: As a young couple embarks upon their wedding plans, gruesome secrets from their past collide with sinister forces of the present to ensure these newlyweds do not live "happily-ever-after."
Being that this is the last movie that Brittany Murphy starred in before her untimely death, we're approaching Something Wicked with caution. It looks decent enough, but watching it is mostly likely going to be a melancholy experience for us.
Spring: A young man in a personal tailspin flees the US to Italy, where he sparks up a romance with a woman harboring a dark, primordial secret.
Aside from It Follows, there's no other Horror movie that is more prominent on our radar right now that Spring is. This movie looks fantastic on every level, and we'll be watching it as soon as we can. This is probably the best VOD release to come along in weeks, if not all year. Can you tell we're excited to see this one?
Zombeavers: A fun weekend turns into madness and horror for a bunch of groupies looking for fun in a beaver infested swamp.
We're nearly finished with our Zombeavers review, and all we can say about it is that it was a silly, ridiculous, good time of a movie. If you're the kind of person who can appreciate a movie like Sharknado for what it is, then Zombeavers should more than tickle you pink.
