Blu-ray & DVD: The Digital Dread Report for 10/4

*Be sure to click the pics below to buy the movies, or even rent them. Or both. Or neither. It really depends on your mood, now doesn't it?

This is a busy, busy, week on the Blu-ray & DVD Front, so let's get to it. It's also a busy, busy week in general around here, so we'll keep it brief.

The discs that we're coveting the most this week are...

  • The Blu-ray version of IT finally hits Amazon today, and it's absolutely on our Must Own list. Review.
  • The Wailing was a great S.Korean Thriller, and is one that's well-worth buying on Blu-ray. Review.
  • We liked The Purge: Election Year just about as much as part 2, and would be happy to re-visit it on Blu-ray. Review.
  • Penny Dreadful was an excellent show that ended too soon. This disc is absolutely going into our collection, and if you have yet to see the series, start at Season 1 and catch up.
  • Season 1 of Preacher was odd to say the least, but it was also fun as hell, and one that we can't wait to watch again.
  • Another show that ended too soon, Banshee is one of our absolute faves. The final season was a bit muddled, but still excellent. As with Penny Dreadful, this is one TV show that you need to see... if you like gratuitous action, of course.
  • The Brian De Palma classic Body Double is one that we'd like to see on Blu-ray, if only to relive the part of our childhood that Cinemax After Dark provided.
  • Vamp is an 80's vampire flick that we loved as kids, and not just because we had huge crushes on Deedee Pfeiffer. Cool flick.
  • X-Men: Age of Apocalypse is sure to be on many people's Must Own lists this week.
  • And The Model & They're Watching Review are compelling DVD releases.
  • And as always, everything else is a crap-shoot.
