Hollywood had to start somewhere, and a great many of them have dipped their toes into he creepy end of the pool at least once over their careers. It's usually before they become famous, but it can happen at any time.
Since this Summer will see new Avengers, Ant-Man, and Fantastic Four movies in theaters, we thought it might be fun to take a look at Marvel's biggest stars, and see what kind of Horror skeletons they have in their career closets.
Horror Experience: Jennifer's Body.
Currently Famous For: He's Star Lord!
Sure, he may have only had a bit part in the shitty Jennifer's Body, but it still counts. We're sorry that we even brought that movie up. Let's move on...
Horror Experience: Silent House (above), Martha Marcy May Marlene, Red Lights.
Currently Famous For: She is the Scarlet Witch.
Lizzie Olsen has been thrilling us for years with her genre exploits, and captivating us with her beauty. Now that she's a part of The Avengers, we get to see even more of her (and on a bigger scale), so bonus for us.
Horror Experience: Freddy vs. Jason.
Currently Famous For: LOST. Also, she's an Elf, and The Wasp.
We may have reached a bit on this one, as she was only an extra in FvJ, but you know what, any time that we can highlight Kate from LOST, we're going to do it! Also, Ant-Man looks like it might be fun.
Horror Experience: Jack's Back, Wolf (above), The Watcher.
Currently Famous For: The Blacklist. Also, he's Ultron.
James Spader has always been awesome, and it's good to see him in some more serious roles these days. I mean, who ever thought that he'd be able to do anything as good as Tuff Turf ever again, you know? Anyhow, he's pretty much got the world by the balls right now, which is good for him, and even better for us.
Horror Experience: Dahmer (above), 28 Weeks Later.
Currently Famous For: He's Hawkeye.
Remember when Jeremy Renner played Jeffrey Dahmer? Neither do we really, but he did. He was also the Army guy with a heart of gold in 28 Weeks Later, so he's earned his Horror credit. Now with Bourne, M:I, and The Avengers, he's pretty much in every big action franchise there is.
Horror Experience: Urban Legends: Bloody Mary (above), American Horror Story.
Currently Famous For: House of Cards. Also, she's The Invisible Woman.
As "not good" as the new FF reboot looks, we're pretty sure that Kate Mara will at least make a decent Sue Storm. I mean, it's got to be better than her turn in Urban Legends: Bloody Mary, right? Right?!?
Horror Experience: Mirror Mirror 2 (above) & 3, The Dentist, Zodiac.
Currently Famous For: He's The Hulk.
Remember the horrible Mirror Mirror flicks from the 90's? Well if you don't, they were pretty bad, and it's funny to us that Mr. Serious Actor Mark Ruffalo starred in two of them. The Dentist wasn't much better. Now that he's big and green, we're pretty sure he'll never have to star in such movies again. A few more like Zodiac would be cool by us though.
Horror Experience: Eden Lake (above), Hex, Blood Creek.
Currently Famous For: He's Magneto.
Michael Fassbender's Horror resume isn't a bad one at all. Eden Lake was good, Hex was fun for what it was, and Blood Creek is a hidden gem that more people need to see. He's Mr. Serious Actor now too, so he'll probably never return to doing movies like that, but at least we'll have X-Men... and Prometheus... and Assassin's Creed.
Horror Experience: Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.
Currently Famous For: Comedy, and he's Ant-Man.
20 years ago, this likable funny guy starred in a Halloween sequel. Not only that, but he played the grown-up version of Tommy Doyle from the first movie, so that's kinda neat too. The movie wasn't the greatest, but the recently released Producer's Cut makes it better. Bring on Ant-Man.
Horror Experience: Eight Legged Freaks.
Currently Famous For: The Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Unless you live under a rock, then you know that Scarlett Johansson is one of the biggest stars on the planet. She's starred in plenty of other genre-related movies, but Eight Legged Freaks was her only true Horror venture... and even then, it was more of a comedy, than anything.
What we'd give to see her in a slasher flick though...
