What's New on VOD This Week? (3/7-3/10)

There are certainly better movies hitting VOD later in the month, but this first full week of March offers 9 new genre movies of interest to choose from, a few of which are pretty high profile studio flicks.

*Be sure to click the pics to rent the movies, or watch their trailers. Or both. Or neither. It really depends on your mood, now doesn't it?

*If you aren't already a member, you should really give Amazon Prime a shot, especially if you order movies on the regular like we do, because the free two-day shipping pays for itself after around 10 orders. Check it out for free HERE.

ORDER
  1. Three is the new film from master filmmaker Johnnie To, and it looks fantastic. We're always up for a new HK Action flick around here, and this one is at the top of our Must See list this week.
  2. Galaxy of Horrors looks low budget to be sure, but it also looks pretty daring and might just end up being a decent Horror Anthology.
  3. Don't know much about Quarries, but it looks like it might be a decent enough "rape revenge" sort of story.
  4. Passengers was decent enough, but it was more of a love story than it was a Sci-Fi action movie, so rent accordingly.
  5. I'm not sure what they were going for with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them; it was a gorgeous movie filled with all sorts of beautiful visuals, but it just felt clunky and didn't work anywhere near as well as the Harry Potter films did.
  6. Capture Kill Release, Devil in the Dark, and Door to the Other Side are all low budget flicks that could swing either way.
  7. Happy streaming!

  1. Three was one of the better HK movies released last year but sadly, Johnnie To had already delivered better. There was a lot of action but some of those scenes didn't impress but were ridicilous because they neiter helped the plot nor the characters involved which could have been mindless fun if the characters wouldn't have been as talky as they were. Acting of the titular Three were good but everyone had already been better elsewhere. Several scenes which certainly were ment to be humorous were wasted on me. Not cracking the faintest smile.

All said it's still handsomely above average and therefor a decent movie but just not something I can appreciate with the marketing "From master director".
