After such a long and harsh Winter, we have to imagine that most people will be outside as much as possible this Summer, soaking up the Sun and doing anything they can to avoid having to be cooped up inside their houses for any length of time.
That doesn't mean we won't still need great things to watch after our beach outings and such though, so luckily there are a ton (hyperbole) of new releases headed our way in June to help us through our relaxing/uneventful evenings, or even fall asleep to.
If there's one single release that we're looking forward to the most this Summer, it would have to be the Blu-ray release of Curtains (1983); Synapse Films is restoring the hell out of that movie, and it looks as if we will finally be able to see it in a format that actually makes the movie viewable. Honestly, the versions of Curtains that are already out there are atrocious in quality, to the point that some scenes are unwatchable due to darkness and a bunch of other issues. We are dying (not literally) to see this one.
We're also dying (not literally) to get our hands on the Blu-ray's of True Detective, The Criterion Collection's Picnic at Hanging Rock, Bloody Birthday, Bloody Moon, The Raid 2, Scanners, and Leviathan. There are certainly more release that we want to check out, but these are our Must Have, day-one purchases.
With so many companies breathing gorgeous, new, 1080p life into so many old classics & favorites, it's a great time to be a Horror/Genre fan. Now if you'll excuse us, we have some more BBQ'ing to do...
