The first Tuesday in June is finally here! That means a whole new batch of new releases to get excited about! Yes! *Not sure why we used so many exclamation points here, because really, none of the previous proclamations are all that exciting.
Anywho...
The biggest Must Own of the week for Horror Fans comes in DVD format, if you can believe that craziness. We recommend that you own Crystal Lake Memories (Review HERE) in Blu-ray format -because the BD contains 4 disks worth of material compared to this DVD's 2 discs- but if for some reason you aren't yet a Blu-ray convert, this DVD version will suffice nicely. The bottom line is that for fans of the F13th series, it gets no better than this.
Ravenous is one hell of a film, and is finally available on Blu-ray! Never before have cannibalism and dark humor worked so well together, and if you take a random chance on one film this week, this one is perfect blind buy material.
For lovers of retro exploitation, Bloodsucking Freaks, Death Bed: The Bed that Eats, and Sugar Cookies will make nice additions to your collection.
For anyone who doesn't already own the individual seasons on Blu-ray/DVD, the Breaking Bad & Walking Dead sets are must haves. As for True Blood... we haven't really watched the show in about three years, so we can hardly say yea or nay as far as buying this one goes. But for us it's obviously a nay.
The Robocop remake was a decent watch, but one that we do not feel compelled to ever experience again (why didn't they just leave his visor down for the entire movie? He looked so lame in every scene where we saw his face!) Same goes for Lone Survivor; it's a decent flick, but we already sat through its 2 hours of soldiers being shot/beat to shit (over, and over, and over again) once, and that was more than enough for us.
The rest of the week's releases are crapshoots, per usual.
*And as always, click the pics for info on the flicks!
