"***HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT OF 10 UPCOMING TITLES!***

We just revealed the following upcoming Scream Factory blu-ray releases at our Comic Con panel this evening. Here's the exciting line-up:

1. WOMEN’S PRISON MASSACRE (1983) - First women-in-prison film in the Scream Factory roster. Bonus points for being Italian-made.

2. BLOOD AND LACE (1971) – First time ever on a home entertainment format!
3. TROLL (1986) – Which will be paired with Troll 2 as a double feature.
4. GHOST STORY (1981)
5. THE GUARDIAN (1990) – From the Director of The Exorcist!
6. THE CAR (1977)
7. NIGHTMARES (1983)
8. DEATH BECOMES HER(1992)
9. GARBAGE PAIL KIDS: THE MOVIE (Collector’s Edition) (1987) – Not horror of course, but “gross” enough!
10. THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD (Collector’s Edition) (1985) - !!!

We have no details to report on this time other than that Death Becomes Her, Blood and Lace and Troll are slated for November 2015 street dates. The rest will roll-out in the months to follow with ROTLD likely releasing in Summer / Fall of 2016.

Scream Factory is constantly releasing Horror flicks from yesteryear on Blu-ray, giving fans like us new, pretty editions of beloved pieces of our childhoods. Not all of the movies are great, and some of the discs are called to task for different issues, but overall, Scream Factory is it when it comes to high profile Horror Blu-ray releases.

Their announcement of 10 new titles that will be seeing release between November 2015 & Fall 2016, is a prefect example of what makes them so great.

  • First and foremost, a Collector's Edition Blu-ray of Return of the Living Dead is something that we'd love to get our hands on, but the current BD releases of the movie (both U.S. & UK) are already loaded with awesome extras, so I'm not sure what scream is going to bring to the table with this release. If they give us a new audio mix, a sharper transfer, and includes the More Brains documentary (the complete 240 minute version) as a Special Feature though, we'll be all over it. Who are we kidding, we'll be all over it anyway.
  • Ghost Story and The Guardian are two fantastic movies that are long overdue for a good Blu-ray release, and we'll be buying both on day one. Same goes for Nightmares.
  • Can't say that we've ever seen Women's Prison Massacre or Blood and Lace, but who knows, maybe they'll turn out to be fun.
  • Troll being paired with Troll 2 as a Double Feature is about as good as it gets for fans of bad movies. Day one for us.
  • Death Becomes Her was silly fun back in the day.
  • The Car was some 70's goodness that features James Brolin and a young Kim Richards.
  • On the negative side of things, I'm not really sure why anyone needs the Garbage Pail Kids movie on Blu-ray, but hey, there's an audience for just about everything, right?

Overall, this is a pretty great announcement from Scream Factory, and as of right now, we'll be owning 5 of the movies above when they're released. Our poor wallets...

  1. Double dip of THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD is obvious, no matter what. So happy that Scream Factory finally releasing it. As for the rest of them, double feature TROLL and THE CAR are on my waiting list. I remember watching THE CAR when I was a kid on local TV, but I can't remember a thing from it except the car is black and one scene the car run through a biker near a tunnel.

    1. Well, since they have never released it before, I won't call it a "Double Dip" but your point is valid. Like you though, we're happy that Scream is releasing it.
