What's New on VOD for the 4th of July Weekend?

http://thehorrorclub.blogspot.com/p/vod.html
Most people across the U.S. of A. probably won't care what's coming out on VOD over the 4th of July weekend, because it's time to barbecue, drink to excess, and blow our fingers off with fireworks. It's time to 'Murica!

Still, there are a lot of people who won't be celebrating Independence day in crazy ways, because they have to work, are anti-social, or maybe they just hate fun. In that case, a new movie or two to watch would not be a bad thing at all.

Closer to God: A genetic scientist successfully clones the first human being, a baby girl named Elizabeth, but his work is soon threatened by a dark secret, a secret that threatens to destroy everything and everyone precious to him.

Ooh, cloning is such a controversial subject! All sarcasm aside, cloning really is a controversial subject, and any movie dealing with the topic at least earns points for being bold. The trailer looks good, and if the little clone baby ends up ripping someone's face off, we'll be happy, so rental it is!

Exeter: During an all-night, drug-fueled party at an abandoned asylum known for the horrific treatment of its patients, a group of ordinary teens decide to experiment with the occult, mysteriously leading to a violent possession.

Another DirecTV exclusive release, Exeter looks to be an interesting Found Footage effort. Then again we've always been fans of director Marcus Nispel's work, haters be damned, so we trust him to give us something that is at least entertaining.

We'll definitely be forcing our way into the home of someone who has DirecTV to watch this one. And we won't even have to pay!

It Follows: For nineteen-year-old Jay, Autumn should be about school, boys and week-ends out at the lake. But after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she finds herself plagued by strange visions and the inescapable sense that someone, something, is following her. Faced with this burden, Jay and her friends must find a way to escape the horrors, that seem to be only a few steps behind.

Two weeks before it hits Blu-ray & DVD, the runaway Indie hit of 2015 is available for purchase on Digital HD. We really liked It Follows, but much like last year's The Bababdook, we didn't find it to be the perfect Godsend that so many others did. Read our review below for our thoughts on the movie.

Since we're buying it on Blu-ray, we won't be renting this one, but if you have yet to see it, then you should definitely take the plunge.

Stung: An fancy garden party turns into upper class prey when a colony of killer wasps mutates into seven foot tall predators.

Finally, we have Stung; a movie about giant wasps that looks like it could either be blissfully entertaining in a cheesy way, or just horrifically bad. It's got genre great Lance Henriksen in it, so we're going to hope for the best. Either way, we'll let you know.
