What's New on VOD for the Week Ending 7/17?

Along with It Follows (which was released a few weeks back in Digital HD), there are 4 solid titles hitting streaming services near you this week, and there's really not a bad one in the bunch.

Alleluia: Michel, a murderous womanizer, meets introverted Gloria online and treats her to a whirlwind one-night-stand. Offering herself as an accomplice in his seductive crimes, the unhinged lovers embark on a deadly odyssey amplified by wild sex, unbridled jealousy, and passionate forays into the dark arts. This smart and gory shocker breathes new life into the lovesick horror genre to serve up a chilling tale of white-hot desperation and terrifying devotion.

From the director of Calvaire and Vinyan comes this dreamy, violent, disturbing flick that explores the pitfalls of love and obsession. Alleluia has got that foreign Art House feel about it, and if you find yourself drawn to French Horror flicks like the aforementioned Calvaire, then this one should suit you perfectly.

Alleluia has been hailed by many critics as one of the best movies of the year thus far, so we'll be checking it out asap. Review soon.

Ex Machina: A young programmer is selected to participate in a ground-breaking experiment in artificial intelligence by evaluating the human qualities of a breath-taking female A.I.

Ex Machina is about as sleek and chilling of a Sci-Fi Thriller that we've seen in a long time. Excellent performances from Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, and Alicia Vikander aside, this movie is as  beautiful as it it haunting.

Reckless: Two ex-cons kidnap a millionaire's daughter and hold her for ransom, only to see their scheme go awry when she proves herself to be more cunning than expected.

Yet another strong Summer release by Artsploitation Films, Reckless looks to be just the kind of foreign Thriller that we love. It looks reminiscent of The Disappearance of Alice Creed (which we quite liked), although we're hoping that this one is a bit more on the nasty side of things.

We'll let you know.

X-Men: The Rogue Cut: With a never-before-seen, alternate cut of the film—plus 90 minutes of all-new, immersive special features—the X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut takes you deeper into the X-Men universe than ever before. Rogue makes her return as the all-star characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves and unite to battle armies of murderous Sentinel robots who are hunting down mutants and humans alike!

We enjoyed X-Men: Days of Future Past, and so we're intrigued to see what this new "Rogue Cut" has to offer. We know that there are about 10 or so of new scenes added to the movie, and that there are many other scenes that boast alternate takes, so maybe it will be worth our time to check out.

More Rogue is never a bad thing.
