#SDCC '16: The First Look at American Gods!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1898069/
"A recently released ex-convict named Shadow meets a mysterious man who calls himself "Wednesday" and who knows more than he first seems to about Shadow's life and past."

A story by Neil Gaiman about a bunch of Old Gods coming to America to kick some New God ass sounds good to us, especially with Hannibal's Bryan Fuller at the helm. The cast, which includes the incomparable Ian McShane, Jonathan Tucker, Emily Browning, Gillian Anderson, Pablo Scheriber, Peter Stormare, and Kristin Chenoweth, looks pretty solid too.

This trailer is a fairly vague tease, but it looks as if it's going to do the novel justice. Check it out below.

American Gods will premiere on Starz sometime in 2017.

#SDCC '16: Adam Wingard's The Woods is Really a New Blair Witch Movie!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4426214/
Well holy shit, color us shocked, duped, and godsmacked (yes, we know it's actually gobsmacked, but that sounds stupid), because Lionsgate announced at SDCC that new Adam Wingard movie coming out in September, The Woods, is actually a new Blair Witch movie. Say what now?

Lionsgate may have pulled off one of the biggest "Boo-Yah!" moments of all-time by keeping this sequel as quiet as they did, and I've got to say that as good as The Woods looked before, that reveal and this new trailer takes it to a whole new level.

Check it out below.

Blair Witch hits theaters on September 16th.

#SDCC '16: The Walking Dead Season 7 Trailer!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1520211/
The 2016 San Diego Comic-Con is well under way, and that means that we Genre fans will be seeing lots of trailers, sneak peaks, and other kinds of goodies involving Horror, Sci-Fi, and Superhero projects this weekend.

One of the biggest ones for us, of course, is this trailer for the upcoming season of TWD.

It doesn't show us many of the main cast members (because they're not going to spoil who got Lucille'd before the premiere, the bastards), but it shows plenty of Negan; some Ezekiel and The Kingdom; Jesus and Heath in survival mode; and that Carol and Morgan are still alive. It shows a lot of other stuff too, but we just really want to know who Negan killed.

October can't get here fast enough.

Check out the trailer below.

Season 7 of The Walking Dead premieres on October 23rd, on AMC.

#SDCC: The 5+ Minute Red Dragon Preview Trailer!

We've been so pissed-off/disheartened by the fact that Hannibal was cancelled by NBC (leaving the show's future in question, at absolute best), that we forgot to get excited about the Red Dragon story arc that will be taking over the 2nd half of the season, just 2 short episodes from now.

It looks as if the Red Dragon's story is going to be much more fleshed out in the show as opposed to either of the Manhunter or Red Dragon movies, and having seen so much of Will & Hannibal's relationship over the past 2 and a half seasons, the events that unfold are most likely going to carry a lot more wight with them.

It also looks like Richard Armitage is going to make one hell of a Francis Dolarhyde (aka The Tooth Fairy), so if Hannibal never gets another season on another network, at least this final one will go out with a bang.

For now, we're just going to take what we can get, and enjoy it.

#SDCC: We Finally Get a Fear The Walking Dead Trailer & Release Date!

"What did the world look like as it was transforming into the horrifying apocalypse depicted in "The Walking Dead"? This spin-off set in Los Angeles, following new characters as they face the beginning of the end of the world, will answer that question."

We finally get a look at Fear the Walking Dead in action, and we have to say it looks pretty interesting. At the very least it looks way different that TWD, which is a good thing, because seeing just how crazy it was when the shadow of Zombie Apocalypse fell across the world sounds like fun to us.

Fear the Walking Dead premieres on August 23rd.

#SDCC: The Trailer for The Walking Dead Season 6 is 4 Minutes of Awesome!

The biggest show on TV is returning this October, and this 4-minute look at Season 6 has got us all kinds of excited for it to start already.

  • Looks like we're going to be seeing The Herd.
  • Ditto, The Wolves.
  • Who is going to die this season? Glenn? Darryl? Captain Janeway?
  • Will Negen finally debut? And if so, will it be at the mid-season break, or during the season finale?
  • Are they setting us up for a Rick vs. Morgan fight of some kind? We hope not, because they are supposed to be boys!

Whatever comes, we know that it will not only be zombie-licious, but that it will also mess with our emotions like few other shows can.

Since Fear the Walking Dead is premiering on August 23rd, we think it's safe to assume that the season premiere of The Walking Dead will fall on either October 11th or 18th.

#SDCC: The First Trailer for Tales of Halloween!

Looks like a pretty strong Horror Anthology to us, and with the level of talent involved ) both behind and in front of the camera), Tales of Halloween has moved to the top of our holiday watch list.

"Eleven directors, renowned for their contribution to the horror movie genre, have joined forces to create a series of interconnected stories, each with a unique Halloween theme. Ten short films have been woven together by a shared theme of Halloween night in an American suburb, where ghouls, imps, aliens and axe murderers appear for one night only to terrorize unsuspecting residents.

DIRECTED BY: Adam Gierasch (Night of the Demons), Andrew Kasch (Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy), Axelle Carolyn (Soulmate), Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III & IV), Dave Parker (The Hills Run Red), John Skipp (Stay at Home Dad), Lucky McKee (All Cheerleaders Die, The Woman), Mike Mendez (Big Ass Spider!), Neil Marshall (The Descent), Paul Solet (Grace), Ryan Schifrin (Abominable)"

Tales of Halloween will be in theaters on October 16th.

#SDCC: Scream Factory Announces 10 New Blu-ray Titles for 2015-2016!

"***HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT OF 10 UPCOMING TITLES!***

We just revealed the following upcoming Scream Factory blu-ray releases at our Comic Con panel this evening. Here's the exciting line-up:

1. WOMEN’S PRISON MASSACRE (1983) - First women-in-prison film in the Scream Factory roster. Bonus points for being Italian-made.

2. BLOOD AND LACE (1971) – First time ever on a home entertainment format!
3. TROLL (1986) – Which will be paired with Troll 2 as a double feature.
4. GHOST STORY (1981)
5. THE GUARDIAN (1990) – From the Director of The Exorcist!
6. THE CAR (1977)
7. NIGHTMARES (1983)
8. DEATH BECOMES HER(1992)
9. GARBAGE PAIL KIDS: THE MOVIE (Collector’s Edition) (1987) – Not horror of course, but “gross” enough!
10. THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD (Collector’s Edition) (1985) - !!!

We have no details to report on this time other than that Death Becomes Her, Blood and Lace and Troll are slated for November 2015 street dates. The rest will roll-out in the months to follow with ROTLD likely releasing in Summer / Fall of 2016.
"

Scream Factory is constantly releasing Horror flicks from yesteryear on Blu-ray, giving fans like us new, pretty editions of beloved pieces of our childhoods. Not all of the movies are great, and some of the discs are called to task for different issues, but overall, Scream Factory is it when it comes to high profile Horror Blu-ray releases.

Their announcement of 10 new titles that will be seeing release between November 2015 & Fall 2016, is a prefect example of what makes them so great.

  • First and foremost, a Collector's Edition Blu-ray of Return of the Living Dead is something that we'd love to get our hands on, but the current BD releases of the movie (both U.S. & UK) are already loaded with awesome extras, so I'm not sure what scream is going to bring to the table with this release. If they give us a new audio mix, a sharper transfer, and includes the More Brains documentary (the complete 240 minute version) as a Special Feature though, we'll be all over it. Who are we kidding, we'll be all over it anyway.
  • Ghost Story and The Guardian are two fantastic movies that are long overdue for a good Blu-ray release, and we'll be buying both on day one. Same goes for Nightmares.
  • Can't say that we've ever seen Women's Prison Massacre or Blood and Lace, but who knows, maybe they'll turn out to be fun.
  • Troll being paired with Troll 2 as a Double Feature is about as good as it gets for fans of bad movies. Day one for us.
  • Death Becomes Her was silly fun back in the day.
  • The Car was some 70's goodness that features James Brolin and a young Kim Richards.
  • On the negative side of things, I'm not really sure why anyone needs the Garbage Pail Kids movie on Blu-ray, but hey, there's an audience for just about everything, right?

Overall, this is a pretty great announcement from Scream Factory, and as of right now, we'll be owning 5 of the movies above when they're released. Our poor wallets...

#SDCC: The First Ash vs. Evil Dead Trailer is Here!

And it looks fantastic!

I don't know what the rest of Comic Con has in store for us, but as of right now, Bruce Campbell and his crew have pretty much just won the entire weekend. Seriously, can he do any wrong?

Bloody, funny, crazy... this show looks awesome, and it looks like we know what we'll be doing on Halloween night.

Hail to the King, indeed.
