Day 3- Sunday, October 3rd

#8- The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2010)

More Thriller than true Horror, Alice Creed is an interesting movie if nothing else. First and foremost, Gemma Arterton is hot. She looks awesome in this movie, and she does a nice job of playing a terrified (and often naked) kidnap victim. The movie has a few interesting twists and turns, but we had the impression that it would be more "Horror-ish" than it was, so in the end our Horror-hunger was not satisfied. Still, it's a decent little Thriller if you're in the mood for something a bit mild.
 #9- The Keep (1983)

Yes, that is a Laserdisc pictured above, and yes, that's the only way that this Michael Mann classic can be seen on disc. How great is The Keep? Well honestly, it's a bit cheesy as far as the special effects go, and some of the story is a bit hokey in places, but overall this is a classic genre flick that doesn't get enough love. Michael Mann is a hell of a filmmaker, giving us stylish projects like Miami Vice (TV) and Heat for example, and you can feel his touch all over this one as well. The movie is packed with acting talent as well, with Jurgen Prochnow, Ian Mckellen, Scott Glenn and Gabriel Byrne. Also, the movie is about a Demon laying waste to a bunch of Nazi 's, so you do the math. It all equals awesome.

That's 9/100 movies watched so far, so we had better get back to it... now where is that toothless kitten...

  1. Keep up the good work, your viewings are helping me amass my winter viewing.
If you ever come across a British film called Basement with Danny Dyer and Jimi Mistry(cool name huh?!?),I urge you NOT to watch it as it really is terrible, quite possibly worse than Zombie Creeping Flesh for plot

  3. Thanks Zocial. We are horror lovers, and it's always awesome to find a kindred spirit out there, and share the goods with them.

Zombie Creeping Flesh... LOL. I will be skipping The Basement, methinks. Thanks for the heads up.

  4. Um, a laserdisc is not digital, it's analog.... Just sayin...

    1. Laserdisc could handle digital or analog sound, but only analog video. Not sure why I didn't make that distinction the first time.
