Blu-ray & DVD: The Digital Dread Report for 5/16

In a world where streaming movies in HD is growing in popularity, it gets harder and harder to justify spending hard earned money on physical media. The fact is though that when done right, nothing makes a movie look or sound better on Blu-ray, so we bring you The Digital Dread Report to help you figure out what's worth buying, and what you're better off streaming.

  • This week it's all about Streets of Fire for us, as it's one of these sentimental movies from all of our childhoods that we could watch over and over again, and never get sick of. *We call those our Train Wreck flicks, and we have a bunch of them. Streets of Fire is a cheap, fun flick with a great performance by Willem Dafoe; showcases a scorching hot Diane Lane in her prime; and boasts maybe one of the best and certainly most underrated soundtracks of the 80's. The final scene/song is an all-time classic for us. We already have the copies in our hands (yes, a few of us ordered them), but for everyone else out there who loves cheesy 80's action flicks, this is a MUST OWN.
  • Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is a notable release, but not one we'll be buying on Blu. Same goes for XXX
  • Breakdown Lane looks like it might be a cool flick.
  • Willard and Ben, the two killer rat flicks from the 70's will surely please fans of the old school.
  • And everything else, as always, is a crap-shoot. Pick your poison!

Be sure to click the pics below to buy the movies, or even rent them. Or both. Or neither. It really depends on your mood, now doesn't it?
