Blu-ray & DVD: The Digital Dread Report for 5/30

In a world where streaming movies in HD is growing in popularity, it gets harder and harder to justify spending hard earned money on physical media. The fact is though that when done right, nothing makes a movie look or sound better on Blu-ray, so we bring you The Digital dread Report to help you figure out what's worth buying, and what you're better off streaming.

May is on the way out the door, but it's leaving us with one more batch of physical media goodness to enjoy.

Collide looks like a cool Thriller, and the Evil Ed disc from Arrow is one that we'll probably check out, but this week's true Must Own for us is The Blackcoat's Daughter.

Finally available on Blu-ray, The Blackcoat's Daughter (read our review HERE) was delayed twice in 2016, and then finally pushed back to an unknown release date in 2017 is beyond us, because it's one of the best movie-watching experiences that we had all of last year, and it would have been a perfect Halloween Season flick.

The way that the movie's plot twisted and turned through such a quiet, bleak atmosphere just grabbed us and thrilled us in all the right ways. Emma Roberts and Kiernan Shipka were fantastic (and suitably creepy) as the main characters, and Satan was terrifying as usual.

It's a great flick, and one that we're adding to our collection without hesitation.

  • And everything else, as always, is a crap-shoot.

Be sure to click the pics below to buy the movies, or even rent them. Or both. Or neither. It really depends on your mood, now doesn't it?
