It's an excellent week for VOD releases, especially if you like Thrillers of the revenge and serial killer type.
*Be sure to click the pics to rent the movies, or watch their trailers. Or both. Or neither. It really depends on your mood, now doesn't it?
*If you aren't already a member, you should really give Amazon Prime a shot, especially if you order movies on the regular like we do, because the free two-day shipping pays for itself after around 10 orders. Check it out for free HERE.
Here are this week's VOD releases, ranked in order from most to least anticipated.
- Blood Father has got to be the surprise of the week, as it showed up on Amazon today along side of its theatrical run. This looks like a solid Survival/Revenge Thriller, and it's gotten some great reviews so far, so we're all in.
- I Am Not a Serial Killer is one that I've been dying to see since I read the first book in the John Cleaver Series. Like Blood Father, it looks great and has garnered some positive reviews, so it's at the top of our list.
- In Order of Disappearance is a very Coen Brothers-esque Norwegian Black Comedy/Thriller that is sitting in our watch list right now. We love Stellan Skarsgard, and can't wait to see what he does with this darkly comedic role.
- De Palma is a Doc that never played near us during its Festival Run/Limited Theatrical Release, so once again, we'll be all over this one when time permits.
- We include Bang Gang on our list this week not because it looks provocative, but because films like this tend to be disturbing on a very real level. This is a straight-up Drama, and it very well may have no Horror or Thriller elements present throughout it, but it looks like it's worthy of a watch.
- Daylight's End looks like it might be a fun, Post-Apocalyptic zombie flick, albeit a lower budget one. The name Lance Henriksen still carries enough weight with us to make us want to check out his new projects. We hope this will be a good one.
- And finally we have The Darkness, which was a pretty tepid Supernatural Thriller that we willl not be renting. You can read our review HERE.
- Happy streaming!
