"It looms up out of the woods like a dormant beast. Grand, imposing... abandoned and deteriorating, the Danvers State Mental Hospital, closed down for 15 years is about to receive 5 new visitors.

Donning protective gear, the men of the Hazmat Elimination Co. venture into the eerily vast and vacant asylum that is filled with an evil and mysterious past. Rampant patient abuse, medieval medical procedure and rumors of demonic possession are some of the many dark secrets the hospital holds - but then so do each of the men."

One of our favorite movies of the 00's, and one of genuinely scariest that we've ever seen, Session 9 is finally available on Blu-ray courtesy of our friends over at Scream Factory!

It's really hard to find movies that scare us anymore, and I'm talking about the "slowly creeps into you and settles in your bones" kind of fear. I'm not trying to over-sell it, and no doubt there are plenty of people this movie wouldn't affect so profoundly, but for me, and for everyone here who has seen it, Session 9 is a truly terrifying Haunted House story.

This is an excellent movie, and a special one to me, and it's a Must Own of the highest caliber. You can read our review and order a copy below.

Bonus Features:

    • NEW Return To Danvers: The Secrets Of SESSION 9 Featuring Interviews With Director/Co-writer Brad Anderson, Actor/Co-writer Stephen Gevedon, Actors Josh Lucas, Brendan Sexton III, Larry Fessenden, Composers The Climax Golden Twins And Director Of Photography Uta Briesewitz.
    • NEW Horror's Hallowed Grounds – Revisiting The Locations Of The Film.

"Expect the unexpected… he does. Neurosurgeon. Physicist. Rock Star. Hero. Buckaroo Banzai (Peter Weller, Robocop) is a true 80s renaissance man. With the help of his uniquely qualified team, The Hong Kong Cavaliers, Buckaroo is ready to save the world on a moment's notice. But after his successful test of the Oscillation Overthruster – a device that allows him to travel through solid matter – he unleashes the threat of "evil, pure and simple from the 8th Dimension"… the alien Red Lectroids."

Talk about a movie that takes us back to our childhood days, Buckaroo Banzai is about a fun as Cult Classic movies get.

It bombed when it hit theaters back in 1984, which is a shame, since it was originally envisioned as a frachise. Since then though, it's developed a strong and loyal cult following, and we're excited to see what Shout! Factory has done with it on Blu-ray.

Definitely a Must Own title for us.

Special Features:

  • NEW Into The 8th Dimension – A Two-Hour Retrospective Documentary including brand-new interviews with cast and crew.
  • NEW Audio Commentary with Michael and Denise Okuda.
  • Audio Commentary with Director W.D. Richter and Writer Earl Mac Rauch.
  • Buckaroo Banzai Declassified Featurette.
  • Deleted Scenes (including the Alternate Opening with Jamie Lee Curtis)
  • New Jet Car Trailer.
  • Theatrical Trailer.

  • The American Ninja movies are a slice of cheesy B-movie excellence, and worth owning for those people who love that throwback type of Martial Arts flick nostalgia.
  • The Burbs was already released on Blu-ray earlier this year, but that was a Best Buy exclusive, and now it's available from Amazon, and every other retailer, as well. Excellent flick.
  • Lake Nowhere looks interesting, as does Restoration
  • Arrow Video's release of Microwave Massacre is sure to please fans of old school exploitation flicks, especially those of us who like comedy mixed with our cannibalism.
  • And everything else, as always, is a crap-shoot.
