The Digital Dread report for June 12th

There's not much this week that interests us on DVD or Blu-ray.

The strongest film of the bunch is most likely Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. We didn't like it as much as the first one, but it was good enough for a watch. Then again, Shallow Grave was a pretty good thriller from back in the day, and here it's getting the Criterion treatment, so we can add that to the must-see list, I suppose.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance was kinda pretty to look at, but just as much of a mess as the first GR flick was. If you want to see a good flick that stars Nicholas Cage and involves hellish vengeance, go and watch Drive Angry. The Ghost Rider flicks just flat out suck.

Worse still, was Don't Go in the Woods; It's really hard to articulate how bad this movie was. Just imagine a shitty Emo band on a camping trip, breaking into spontaneous acoustic song while being picked off one by one... yeah, it's a slasher musical. Shame on you, Vincent D'Onofrio.

The rest of the week's releases all look to be low budget crap-shoots. The poster for Rift intrigues us, but you know how that usually works out. Meh to the rest.

I think we'll save our money for next week.
