#10- Jonah Hex (2010)
This movie is a bit of a jumbled mess, but is entertaining enough if you are willing to shut your brain off and not think at all. It's interesting to see a comic book movie that has a supernatural bent to it, even if it deviates from its source comic a bit.
Jonah Hex is a mystical hero, at least in the movie, in that he can bring the dead back to life by touching them, which allows hm to question them or just have a chat. He's also a prolific marksman, and likes to kill, so he makes for a good time.
Josh Brolin is a hell of an actor, and he is interesting as
Hex. He basically single-handedly makes this movie interesting and watchable.
John Malkovich is as good as he always is in this, and he really does excel at playing the villain. He makes us hate him with ease.
Megan Fox is useless in this, and further proves that she cant act her way out of a nut sack. I know many think she's the hottest woman alive, but I can't for the life of me figure out how she keeps getting work... wait, I just answered my own question, didn't I?
The main problem with
Jonah Hex is that it seems to be missing parts, and is edited haphazardly (at least it feels that way to us.) At various points during the movie, it seemed as if scenes were cut short, chopped up, or just randomly thrown in there for the hell of it. Too bad, because the action was fun and all of the editing
BS distracts from the good stuff.
Jonah Hex is a messy movie that suffers from too much jumping around and choppy editing, but can be fun in the right mindset. Kinda.
Brolin is awesome, the supernatural angle is interesting, and the action is fun in places, but you have to shut your mind off and ignore the myriad of other flaws to be able to enjoy any of those things.

#11- Sutures (2009)
This one was decent enough in some areas, but just like with
Jonah Hex, we had to ignore/forgive its shortcomings to enjoy the good parts. The gore is good and plentiful, our final girl is someone that we end up liking, and the main killer is intimidating and interesting... the story however gets a bit confused, and some things that happen left us scratching out heads.
"A group of longtime friends converge on a fatal course with destiny when they cross paths with Alexander Tatum, a mercenary surgeon. He is a hunter with the keen skill of one who has also been hunted. Prey turned predator. The victims quickly realize that Alexander is just the beginning of their problems, as they find themselves enmeshed in a fight for survival against a sociopath business man and his demonic staff, who will stop at nothing to prevail in the sale of Black Market Body Parts."
Had they let the movie be about
Alexander Tatum and his murderous ways, and left out the whole underground body harvesting aspect, I think it would have been a better film. The twists and turns that the story gives us are a bit bewildering, and some of the reveals are head-shakingly bad, and in the end it all feels sloppy in places where it should have been tight and cohesive. On a positive note,
Allison Lang is not only a cutie but she is a solid little actress that does her job well here. She needs to be in more movies.
Carlos Lachau is a bright spot as well, playing the shadowy and creepily imposing psychotic surgeon,
Alexander Tatum.
Sutures is a decent enough time-waster, though the movies shortcomings may drive most viewers crazy and leave a bitter taste in their mouth when all is said and done. Still,
Allison Lange is a cutie worth watching and a heroine worth pulling for, and the early going stalk n slash scenes with
Tatum are pretty bloody and fun. Expect nothing and just enjoy the good parts.
