What's New on VOD for the Week Ending 7/10?

http://thehorrorclub.blogspot.com/p/vod.html
There are three new titles of note hitting VOD services this week: a modern-day Crime Thriller classic from S.Korea; a Belgian Crime Thriller that looks like it might be pretty good in its own right; and a movie about an annoying YouTube personality who hopefully gets what's coming to him. Guess which one we're least excited about?

I-Lived: Josh Fosse is a 20something guy whose life is going nowhere. His girl left, his rent is late, and he lacks a real job. He is trying to make it as an app reviewer online and decides to review a self help app called i-Lived for fun. He's signs on and immediately his life turns around. He meets the girl of his dreams and he gets a job offer he can't refuse. Convinced it's him and not the app, he signs out... and loses everything. He signs on again but this time the terms are different, the app is asking him to do things that are out of his moral comfort zone... but essential to becoming the success the app tells him he can be.

Of the many things in this world that drive us nuts to the point of anger, YouTube "celebrities" are pretty high up on that list. There are many people on YouTube who do a great job at reviewing or discussing things, but there are far more whose success makes us wonder just who in the hell is watching their sorry asses act like spastic morons, and thinking that it's great. That being said, any movie that involves one of said spastic morons getting harangued by the forces of evil, is alright by us.

With so many great Horror & Genre movies hitting VOD this Summer, we're not sure when we'll be able to make time to check this one out, but eventually, we will.

Memories of Murder: In 1986, in the province of Gyunggi, in South Korea, a second young and beautiful woman is found dead, raped and tied and gagged with her underwear. Detective Park Doo-Man and Detective Cho Yong-koo, two brutal and stupid local detectives without any technique, investigate the murder using brutality and torturing the suspects, without any practical result. The Detective Seo Tae-Yoon from Seoul comes to the country to help the investigations and is convinced that a serial-killer is killing the women. When a third woman is found dead in the same "modus-operandi", the detectives find leads of the assassin.

This is not a new movie by any means, but this is the first time (at least as far as we're aware) that Memories of Murder has been made available to stream on Amazon, so we thought we'd include it here for the benefit of the uninitiated. MOM is one of the best Thrillers that we've ever seen, and an excellent example of the fact that some of the best Crime Thrillers on the planet come out of S.Korea.

If you love Crime Thrillers, and you haven't seen this movie yet, then you owe it to yourself to give it a go. Beware though, it's subtitled.

The Treatment: Inspector Nick Cafmeyer seems to have it all - looks, brains and a successful career. But a dark cloud hangs over his life: since the age of nine, he has been haunted by the unsolved disappearance of his younger brother, Bjorn. Plettinckx, a known sex offender, was questioned but quickly released. Plettinckx lives close by and takes fiendish pleasure in harassing Nick. Then, when a disturbing case comes to light involving a missing nine-year-old, Nick heads a massive search which turns into a relentless manhunt.

Another subtitled foreign movie that is hitting streaming outlets this week, The Treatment looks to be the kind of dark Thriller that we can't get enough of. Directed by the guy that gave us the controversial Bo back in 2010, we're expecting this one to mess with us in the best of ways.

We will be streaming The Treatment asap.
