6 Posters that Will Get You in the Mood for Season 2 of The Strain!

We're suckers for good art around here, and with The Master and his plague of minions returning to FX this Sunday, these posters are putting us in just the right mood for more of The Strain. If this season follows the events of Book 2 closely, then it will all be building towards one hell of a crazy climax... and we really hope that FX does the right thing and just goes for it.

We'll see.

The Strain Season 2 premieres Sunday, July 12th at 10 P.M.

New Movie Poster Round-Up

Great posters trick us into watching awful Horror movies all the time, so let's take a look at 10 Posters for some upcoming Horror flicks, and try to decide if they might end up being good, or if they're just trying to lure us in and trap us!

*Be sure to click the posters to be taken to the movie's IMDB page, for info & release dates.

Kurt Russell as a cowboy on the warpath? Sounds perfect to us.

Cooties premiered at Sundance nearly 16 months ago, and there's still no trailer... We're dying to see this one, but get with it, guys!

This one looks all kinds of disturbing, and we mean both the poster and the movie.
Love the poster, liked the trailer.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2949196/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Great poster, but the trailer grated on my nerves. A Lot.
Part 3's are usually good, right? Right? Love the poster though. I think it's the eyes...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1618442/?ref_=nv_sr_2
Looks good, but I just hope that the whole "time jump" thing is handled well.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2187444/?ref_=nv_sr_1
The poster is a busy, Photoshopped mess, but the movie looks like it could be full of Torture Porn goodness.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1029360/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Loving the art from this one so far, just not sure if the movie is going to come off as well.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2752772/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Without the kid on the right, that poster would be perfect.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3477752/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
Now this is the type of poster that makes me need to see the movie. It's just about perfect. Oh yeah, and the movie looks really good too.

We're not quite ready to get excited for a new M. Night Shamalayananan movie yet, but at least the poster looks fun.

10 Posters: The Possession Hi-Jinks Edition

Somewhere along the line, Horror filmmakers decided that whenever someone gets possessed by an evil entity (usually a young girl), that they have to bend an contort in odd ways, do all kinds of stuttered and quick movements, make growling noises, and crawl on walls and ceilings. We imagine that the whole trend started with Ju-On: The Grudge or Ringu, but who can say for sure.

We can say for sure that whatever film truly started the whole trend, that The Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Last Exorcism films took it to a whole new level of popularity.

It's to the point now that when we see the poster for a new Possession or Haunting flick, that the first thing that comes to mind is usually "Of course she's in a white dress and crawling on the wall, what else would a Demonic Entity do with its newly possessed host!" I mean, there are always variations; like sometimes the girl isn't wearing a white dress at all, and sometimes they are just doing Creepy Yoga instead of skittering across the ceiling like they're supposed to be doing, but for the most part, they all look just about the same.

The following posters are a good example of what we're talking about. Some look cool, while others just look like pale imitations of a once successful theme. Either way, it's interesting to see just how many movie posters these days look like they could be for the same movie.

One of the big Cable Networks got in on the act, but they got really creative and had their "girl in white" contort in mid-air.
Why always the corner? Do evil spirits feel safer there, or do they just think that it scares us more? And are they really just here to scare us to begin with? What is she doing up there!
Did the chick in this movie ever actually crawl down the wall? We honestly can't remember...
Like we can't see you up there!
Maybe evil spirits just like to show off once they've inhabited a fresh, new body. Don't get me wrong, that looks creepy as hell, but where is she going with the whole "posing" thing?
This one couldn't even be bothered to make it up the wall. It's like she said "Eh, this is creepy enough," and just decided to take it easy.
How is she holding on? Are demonic forces magnetic by default?
Another floater, which is at least a bit outside of the norm.
Dear Demonic Entities: That is not the most efficient way to chase after somebody!
...and she's in the corner again. Or archway. Same damn difference.

10 Posters: The Crawling Edition

We never realized just how prevalent crawling away from something terrifying was, until we saw these posters. Even our banner* up there is getting in on the act! *Taken from the Grave Encounters 2 poster.

Apparently crawling away from such menaces as maniacs, ghosts, trucks, birds, or wolves is the way to go, because why would you want to run instead? We all know that running is nowhere near as fast as crawling is, hence why the Olympics feature so many crawling-based events...

What we found really crazy about this trend, was just how much alike these posters look. These are all newer, cheaper Horror flicks, so there's no homage or tribute going on here... Maybe it's just best to say that most of these posters were "inspired" by the  others. Yeah, that sounds far less accusatory than "copied," or "ripped-off."

It looks like Dead of Winter (2006) started the recent "crawling" poster trend, but never fear, other movies like Absentia perfected the art form. We don't know who started the whole thing, and it doesn't really matter. All that does matter is that these posters look a lot alike. You could honestly take any of the girls on these posters, Photoshop them into any of the other posters, and it would look perfect.

You gotta love low-budget Horror!

Is that carpet that she's digging her nails into? Because you can't really do that with rock.

Dirt, you could probably dig your fingers into. It's going to be painful, but it can be done.

She has the exact same hairdo as the chicks in the first two posters do!

Maybe she slipped and fell, because, black ice.

Is she really watching TV like that? And what exactly is on Channel 3?

That dark, side-swept hairdo is back!

You can't out-crawl a truck, dummy! (Unless of course, it's stopped.)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00827OWRK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00827OWRK&linkCode=as2&tag=thehorclu0a-20
Where exactly is she crawling to? Her hand is probably touching the wall in front of her!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005J039H2/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005J039H2&linkCode=as2&tag=thehorclu0a-20
Can't really criticise her for crawling, because she's not outrunning a wolf anyway.

That's a big, big shed.

10 Posters that intrigue us...

This is real, and I can't help but be intrigued. Not sure what that says about me, but there it is.

Based on the poster alone, we love this movie. If it ends up sucking (and it could,) we'll still love the poster. At least that's something.

So it this movie about a zombie leg that keeps on dancing? I don't know, but we like the gratuitous bum shot.

Creepy little fuckers.

Not sure what the hell this movie is all about, but it at least boasts some cool posters.

I hope that guy ends up being all creepy and kills a bunch of people. If not, then I hope the titular Mold kills him for wasting such potential.

We support any cheesy 80's Fluci flick that involves slutty Flashdancers being hacked to pieces. Legwarmers!

I'm not sure what kind of Fuck-Nut it takes to come up with the idea to turn the tragic events of September 11th, 2011 into a zombie flick, but fuck them right in their fucking asses.

This movie may look ridiculously awful, but it's got Sara Jean Underwood in it, and she's looking all slutty, so who are we to judge? That poster is boner-ific.
LOL WUT.
